Abstract

This article explores the dynamic nature of the self throughout life, with a focus on self- concept, self-esteem and self-efficacy. It examines how biographical transitions, from childhood education to ageing, shape identity and personal development. Drawing on theories of biography, transition and coping, the article emphasises the vital role of social work and diaconia in supporting individuals through critical life changes, fostering resilience, agency and self-development within shifting social contexts.
