Abstract

Based on Wesley’s imperative »Read!«, Christof Voigt traces the rapid evolution of German-speaking Methodist theological training institutions up to the present-day Theological Hochschule Reutlingen (THR). The THR’s distinctive characteristics of theological education result from ecclesiastical and thus theological circumstances within the context of global Methodism. Finally, he takes a closer look at the critical situation of theology at German universities and explores the integration of Methodist educational work into the global context.
